Holistic Approach
My goal for you is to feel relaxed and happy, settled in your own skin and enthusiastic about what life has to offer. Sound unrealistic? I am confident that a wellness model of psychiatry offers these types of benefits because I have seen it time and time again.
For many people, medication will be an important part of healing. I am a medication prescriber and feel that I have a good awareness of the strengths and limitations of medications. Truly, the right medication can be life changing. However, many people will benefit from multiple strategies to improve their mental wellbeing. I have listed some of those strategies below.
Extensive history taking and use of psychiatric assessment measures leading to improved diagnoses, medication choices, interventions and outcomes
Team based wellness approach: I will gladly coordinate with your therapist or any other health professionals involved in your care to get a more robust sense of your needs and help facilitate an effective treatment plan
Evidence based use of supplements such as methylated folate for depression, B12 for cognition and energy, magnesium for sleep and anxiety and many other clinically validated choices
Education and coaching on Nutritional and Metabolic Psychiatry principles, ie the use of food and nutrition to improve even serious mental health burdens
Evidence backed mindfulness techniques such as meditation and breathing exercises
Use of exercise to vastly improve ADHD, anxiety, restlessness, depression and lethargy
Education on how alcohol affects sleep, mood and anxiety and strategies to create a shift in your relationship with alcohol
Effective strategies for goal setting, personal growth and development
